Create stunning cards!
You can produce cards with a unique “mottled” or “dappled” effect.

What You Will Need:
• MATTE CARDSTOCK
(Will NOT work on Glossy, Index or
Other Cardstock.
You must use Matte Cardstock for this technique!)
• BLENDING BLOX INK PADS
• MEMORIES MISTS or Walnut Ink
(1-3 colors depending on what type
of look
or results you are going for.)

1. Stamp Your Image:
Stamp image in black or dark brown ink on matte paper.
Use a heat tool or hair dryer to dry ink. It is important that the ink be completely dry before proceeding. Alternately, images can be heat embossed in black or dark embossing powders.
2. Apply Ink Color Background to Image:
After ink is dry, flip a Blending Blox upside down and rub
across the paper in one direction. Repeat if color does not
cover completely. If your image is larger than the Blending Blox, rotate the pad 180° and ink the next area matching up colors.
3. Apply Memories Mists or Walnut Ink, while ink is wet:
NOTE: Memories Mists Inks should be sprayed over a drop cloth or inside a large box to prevent staining and unwanted ink spatter.
While the Blending Blox ink is still wet start with the lightest color of Memories Mists. You can use 1 to 3 different Inks. When spraying, let the ink just fall or mist over the card design, do not spray directly onto project. Spray (1-2 sprays) from about 1 foot or more away. Add the next lightest color (1-2 sprays) and the final color (1-2 sprays).
4. Finish Your Card for “Mottled” Look to Appear:
Dry the ink with a heat tool or a hair dryer as soon as you are done misting.
This last step will produce a mottled look.

Masking Tip:
For the fishing scene design: because the lure is part of the design, mask the lure before inking and misting.
Another option would be to stamp another copy and color the lure, then cut out and then mount on top of the finished design.
Card Finishing Tip:
In most cases, the best
way to finish a card is to
cut out the finished mottled
mist technique design and
then mount it onto a
greeting card. Multiple
layers with coordinating
colors will produce a simple
yet stunning card.
