Figure 4: Template

Use on a tri-fold card.
(Fig. 1) The portion of the front panel can be left as is, or cut to the shape indicated by the dotted line (on right side of card). (Fig. 2) Place dotted line of template (Fig. 4) on the 2 folds of a tri-fold card. Trace and cut out pattern. (Fig. 1)

Use on the front of a regular card. Make a full template of the pattern out of scrap paper. (Fig. 3) Place the full template on the front of a standard greeting card. Cut away the inner window panes and decorate the inside of your card to be viewed through the "window".

"Shutters" Window Idea

Cut out the pattern. Place it in desired position on the front panel of your card. Score and fold on the dotted lines and cut on the solid lines. When your card is decorated, the shutters will fold open to reveal a scene or message inside.

WINDOW CARD IDEAS:

  • Add a panel of clear acetate (transparency) behind the window to give the effect of glass.

  • Add snow or rain to your acetate window panes by dotting it with clear embossing ink and
heat embossing with clear or pearl powder.

  • Try cutting the window shapes from dark colored paper or metallic panel
