You will need either:
1 - 8½" x 11" sheet of cardstock
OR 2 - 5½" x 8½" cards
Cut,
score and fold as indicated in the figure to the right.
Note: There will be a ¼" strip of waste to cut away between
the front panel/folds.
Accordion Folds: You will have 2 sections, each measuring
2" x 5½" when you have finished the cutting. For each, score
lengthwise at center (1" from the edge) for a mountain fold.
Score at ½" on each side of this fold for a valley fold.
Note: Always fold away from the side on which you score.
Stamp
and decorate the top layer section and the front base card
as desired. Plan the design so that a frame can be cut into
the top layer, and the inside can be viewed through the
opening. In this example, the pink colored section was cut
away to view the scene inside.
Glue
the top layer section to the accordion folds. The folded
edge of the "accordion" should be attached to the underside
of the top layer. Glue the other end of the accordion fold
section to the back and inside of the base card section.
The 3-D box design will not form the "cover" of your card,
which will be able to be opened for a message on the inside
of the base card.
