Purchase
styrofoam base material at your local craft store, the
size, shape and width you prefer. Cover it with stamped
and decorated sticker paper, self-adhesive glitter paper,
wrapping paper, or whatever else fits in with your design.
Develop the concept for your scene. Stamp the images
on cardstock, color and decorate as desired. Cut the
images out carefully with an X-acto® knife, leaving
a tab at the bottom for inserting into the base. The
tab should be ˝" long. Large figures will stand up better
if they have 2 or 3 tabs. |

Over-emboss
or laminate the finished pieces to add strength.
Hold the cut out figure over its location on the base.
Note the width of the tab and cut a slit to match in
the base with your X-Acto® knife. This slit should be
at a 35 degree angle to the base for easier viewing.
Insert the image. Repeat the procedure for all other
figures.
Note:
In the barnyard scene, the fence should have all the
background carefully cut away with the X-Acto® knife.
This takes time, but it will add realism to your scene. |
