3-Dimensional
Butterfly to mount on greeting card or package.
This technique works best on designs that are even on both sides
(symmetrical).

-
Stamp out 3 identical butterflies on cardstock.
Color as desired. Cut out all 3 butterflies. (Figure 1)
Leave the antennae and body on butterfly #1, fully color in
this butterfly, using the most detail.
This will be the one in the
front. You can remove the antennae and parts that stick out
of
the wing area on butterflies #2 and #3.
-
Fold
each butterfly in half, right sides together. (Figure 2)
-
Apply double stick tape or glue to the back of butterfly #1.
-
Stick
the right wing of butterfly #2 to the left wing of butterfly
#1. (Figure 2)
- Stick
left wing of butterfly #3 to right wing of butterfly #1,
carefully matching edges. (Figure 3)
If the edges do not match, carefully trim.
- Apply double stick tape or glue to the back of remaining butterfly wings.
Place finished butterfly onto your card or project. (Figure 4)
- Your
butterfly will look like it's ready to flutter by, yet it
will lay flat
for mailing.
